THREAD:
/ The "insurance policy" may becoming into focus, Strzok and Page did not want to burn their "sensitive source", Stefan Halper, because they illegally used him as a confidential human source BEFORE Crossfire Hurricane was initiated on July 31, 2016. #Spygate
/ So a plan took shape. Yesterday we learned that "Azra Turk" was a government investigator sent by the FBI to London in order to spy on @GeorgePapa19, posing as Halper's research assistant. nytimes.com/2019/05/02/us/…
/ What I found interesting was this section of the piece. "The bureau might also have seen Ms. Turk’s role as essential for protecting Mr. Halper’s identity as an informant".
/ This sounds awfully similar to what Page said in reference to the August 15, 2016 "insurance policy": "we don’t need to burn longstanding sources". Was "Turk" thrown at PapaD in order to protect Halper as a source? And why? amp.dailycaller.com/2019/02/22/str…
/ Although Strzok and Page do not add any more justification for the need to protect Halper, my belief is that the main reason they inserted Turk was because they illegally used Halper as a CHS before the CI investigation was initiated. washingtonpost.com/politics/cambr…
/ Thus, they sent "Turk" in to protect Halper's identity as a CHS, but also as an "insurance policy" to protect the FBI if Trump were to get elected. The FBI would point to "Turk" as their spy and Halper would've appeared as an innocent Republican interested in the campaign.
/ So much so did they want to protect Halper, they attempted to insert him into the administration as an ambassador through Peter Navarro. amp.axios.com/peter-navarro-…
/ But eventually Stefan Halper was named by Page/PapaD, and faux outrage ensued when the House Democrats raised hell about @DevinNunes potentially outing an FBI confidential human source. amp.dailycaller.com/2018/05/17/hal…
/ All because the Dems and the FBI realized that their illegal spying had been uncovered through Halper's identity being disclosed. npr.org/2018/05/24/614…
/ There you have it, an "insurance policy" to cover up the FBI's illegal spying. Of course this policy ended up failing miserably in the end and all of those involved will probably end up walking into a #Barr.
