Skincare thoughts: Ok, so this article wasn't quite as bad as I thought it would be, aside from only interviewing women in their 20's. /thread vice.com/en_us/article/…
I do like that it critiques the skincare industry and the plethora of products that are out there, many of which are bad and will for sure make your skin worse despite the marketing.
That being said, you definitely don't need 10 steps. But 2 isn't going to cut, it either. I have my own thoughts on what's best and have learned a lot thanks to an amazing Facebook group that I'm in.
You also definitely don't have to spend a lot of money; however, it needs to be said that some dermatologists can prescribe stuff that's no better for your skin. Expensive products can be just as useless as inexpensive ones.
The best things you can do, in my opinion, are: stop using a foaming cleanser; stop using scrubs; avoid mineral oil like the plague; moisturize!!!, and daily sunscreen of at least 30, preferably 50. The last one is non-negotiable!
Wearing sunscreen is actually the one thing I have been doing daily since my 20's, and I can promise you that it's made a world of difference.
Finally, you've probably heard a lot about hyaluronic acid lately. It's the big IT ingredient right now, even though it's been around for a long time.
It's great stuff and a perfect moisture layer under your sunscreen and before other stuff at night, but don't spend a lot of money on it. Just get this: amazon.com/HADALABO-Gokuj…
You can also find it at a lot of Asian grocery stores, although sometimes it costs a bit more. It lasts forever, and it's really the best quality you can get.
Ok one last thing: sheet masks. Personally, I think they're bullshit, but if you enjoy them, go for it. But they also don't need to be part of your daily routine, especially if time is an issue.
Finally, definitely experiment with products, as you can, and your routine. If something isn't working for you, ditch it! Overall, your skincare routine should be one that you enjoy not one that's stressful. :) /end
