Since Bill Webb came up again, apparently for threatening some foolishness revealed as nothing but sound and fury as soon as it got started, and there's apparently some narrative about Overzealous Feminists forcing their help on his 2017 victim, let's get a few things straight:
I didn't force my help on BJ, and neither did any of the other female Paizo employees, as far as I know. Another employee came to me for help finding an executive after BJ asked for her help, and told her she thought she might have been roofied.
I looked for an executive, and when I found one, told him what was going on and that he needed to do something about it. I continued to check with him as to whether the situation had been handled over the next several hours.
When I saw her in the lobby area, with Bill nearby in the bar, I invited her to eat lunch with me. At the banquet, I invited her to sit at my table, with a number of female Paizo employees in the vicinity. That was the extent of the direct involvement I had with her.
Bill Webb was introduced to me back in 2012 or 2013 as someone to avoid when he drank, because he got handsy and wouldn't respect requests to be left alone. BJ was not his only victim. (He got inappropriate with at least one other woman at PaizoCon 2017.)
I requested a meeting with the executive team after PaizoCon to institute clearer procedures for handling incidents and was refused.
An employee (not BJ--BJ was not a Paizo employee) who was injured while trying to get Bill off of BJ came to me for help because she wasn't happy with how Paizo handled her workplace injury claim.
(My understanding is she'd been told by HR that she should have refused BJ help because she didn't want the police involved, and Paizo was refusing to treat it as a workplace injury). She wasn't comfortable appealing that alone so she asked me to come with her.
That was the meeting in which I pointed out that BJ was not Bill's only victim, and said I wouldn't attend future Paizo events unless Bill was banned. And got fired.
Literally the ONLY things I did without being *asked* to do it was attempt to have a post-Paizocon meeting about better incident handling procedures (based on YEARS of poor handling), and invite a woman who had come to another employee for help to sit with me.
The narrative apparently going around that overzealous feminists at Paizo forced our way into something being handled without us is a pretty profound misrepresentation of the situation. I was asked to get involved by another employee, whom the victim asked for help.
(Or, to be utterly factual, I was asked to get involved by another employee who told me the victim had come to her for help. But I have no reason to disbelieve her.)
While I signal-boost people who go public to talk about being harassed, and I talk about stuff that's happened to *me* or is public, I don't make things that haven't happened to me public unless a victim asks me to do so.
(Leave BJ alone--she's been through enough and is clearly Done, but if you see people spreading the narrative that we somehow jumped in without being asked to, please correct it.)
