What can I learn from my wrong predictions about Brexit? My @indyminds article, now outside paywall independent.co.uk/voices/editors…
I ought to learn from this and test my current assumption that we're likely to stay in the EU
This depends on two things: 1. Corbyn won't agree a Brexit deal with govt; 2. EU will continue to grant extensions
How could those be wrong; and are there "3rd ways" that I haven't thought of?
This casts doubt on willingness of EU leaders to grant repeated extensions, but, as @joncstone says, "preparations are already being made for a further delay" independent.co.uk/news/uk/politi…

Peterborough is a 2-way Labour-Brexit Party fight, so Lab were never going to make way for "independent" standing on Not Labour policy

Cross-party talks unlikely to succeed, so only way we'll leave EU is if EU leaders force us to: @JGForsyth spectator.co.uk/2019/05/can-ma…
That is also unlikely (@CER_Grant agrees with me); they don't want to risk a no-deal exit, or, indeed, to force us out at all
So I think most likely outcome is a further extension, which is why I think Brexit is probably dead

So 1 year ago today, having spent the previous 18 months devastated about Brexit & the ramifications it looked like it was going to have for UK, I decided I had to do more & I set up a new twitter account with a simple aim & this was the 1st tweet.

I'd been following several #regretful leavers (e.g. @HughNorris7 & @timjn1) for a while on my personal twitter (now dormant) & decided that their voices (& many others like them) must be amplified & they must know others feel the same..@remainernow was the result of that.

What a dreadful idea. If you're going to ceate an EU superstate, at least have direct elections of lawmakers (including initiation & schedule), a 2nd chamber and not a continuation of the horse trading with the EC that a 55% majority creates - theguardian.com/world/2018/sep…
I'm for a democratic EU superstate, I'm a member of DiEM25 but I'm no fan of the neoliberal experiment that the EU has become. The EC is at the heart of this. Its own comissioners make this clear - "I do not take my mandate from the European people" - independent.co.uk/voices/i-didn-…
I'd be quite happy to scrap the concept of UK, France, Germany, Greece et al and just have one identity in a democratic Europe. But this is not that, and in the abscence of moves towards greater democracy then I'll always vote #brexit.
