So question: Have you seen anyone analyze the following fact? We just imposed tariffs on $200 bil of Chinese goods coming in. They responded with tariffs on $60 bil of our stuff they buy. Let's see: 200 / 60 = 3.33. So they're "retaliation" in this war is one third of our attack?
Let's simplify. I have 20 soldiers. You have 6. Am I okay with this skirmish? And, when I have 3 times the odds of winning you have, are you sure that's a war you want to fight? Or, could it be that in trade terms, China just surrendered?
Oh, oh, you say, they're selling our bonds, oh no, oh no! Well, let's stop depending on them for cash, for goodness sake. Maybe we can take the income from the tariffs and pare down our debt a little. I'm just not seeing the downside.
