Before people start an argument over how to win back the white working class for the 7000th time, a reminder on why @MMFA and campaigners were disappointed in candidates going on Fox News for exclusive town halls...
Every spring, Fox—like every major network—has an “upfront,” where they sell up to 70% of their ad space for the coming year. This is a huge, crucial business moment for them year after year.

That’s happening right now.
Because so many of their hosts have been embroiled in controversy over sexist and racist garbage this year, we’ve been pressuring advertisers to #DropFox. It was working — a bunch of major companies were deciding to skip the controversy, and advertise instead on other networks.
Fox started panicking, and had an emergency meeting at its Midtown headquarters in March. The network was desperate to convince advertisers not to run away. We staged a protest outside that meeting, to show companies the controversy wasn’t over.

Around the same time, the DNC shut down any primary debate on Fox. This was a huge swing in the right direction.

Right then, as we were gaining major ground in our fight, that’s when we heard Bernie was going to do an exclusive town hall on their network.
Many advertisers took that as a sign that it’s safe to buy space on Fox. This also played into Fox's ad team's approach, that "America Is Watching."
It’s important to reach Fox viewers, but there’s lots of ways to do that.

You don't actually need to go on Fox to do so. "Fox viewers" is an archetype, & you reach them by campaigning locally, micro-targeting online, running local ads, engaging local media and more.
Warren’s decision to skip the network today on the other hand, in the middle of Fox’s upfront presentations—Fox's upfront presentation was YESTERDAY—sends a powerful message to companies listening to the network’s pitch. I hope others follow her lead.

Tucker Carlson alone lost 45 advertisers since December. Hannity and Ingraham both saw huge advertiser exoduses in the year prior.

Fox is at the point where daytime is subsidizing primetime, which is the inverse of the standard model. Unsustainable!

Here's @ewarren's thread explaining why she's turning down Fox News:
