Technology is not defensible in the open source world of #cryptonetworks.

Community is the defensible resource, and a *committed* community can't be bought.
It is proof-of-labor, not capital, that converts someone into being there over the long term, as opposed to a fairweather fan.
(And labor as a community member can show up in all kinds of ways, it's not exclusively technical-labor)

1/ Hypothesis: currently available #cryptoassets can’t help but be sub-optimally distributed given only half of the global population is online. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Global_In…
2/ Put another way, the fact that ~80% of the “developed world” is online, while only ~40% of the “developing world” is, presents a huge problem for #crypto if our intent is to lessen inequality.
3/ Not to be dour, but it's been a daunting recent reflection of mine, and points to how early we potentially are in the crypto movement.

“We’re sitting in the @NYSE Board Room - that’s a first for #bitcoin.” -@dan_pantera at @Bakkt’s first digital asset summit.
But #bitcoin wasn’t the only asset of conversation @Bakkt’s event today.

When asked about other #cryptoassets, Commissioner Stump referenced the @CFTC’s recent request for information on #Ethereum, saying, “Bitcoin’s not the end of the road.”
All in all, the @Bakkt event signals great things for #bitcoin and #crypto at large, even if I did miss some of the funk of OG days.

If they properly recognize the global promise of #crypto, don’t expect @Facebook to back down easily to the US Gov on Libra contestations.
Depending on how big Libra gets I wonder if / how the US Gov would bring legal action against FB?

The two questions would be:

1) what can they do that would be most crippling to FB
2) what are they likely to do?
I’m imagining #crypto’s iteration of the 2000 “United States v. Microsoft Corp” Case, which would be insane as it could concern the dollar!

Rather than the expected Sky is Falling rhetoric you see from open source organizations (who benefit from slave labor) you see a fairly balanced view of the benefits to Github Sponsors.
However, I'm pretty convinced this was proposed many times in the past from certain key employees at Github stopped it. I'd love to know the inside story of what happened after Microsoft bought them. Was the way paved for sponsorship because OSS Fanatic Douche Bro quit/fired?

So @opsmop is having the same adoption and traffic curve problems of @vespene_io and I don't think it makes sense to continue it either. I believe in the idea a lot, but I think the whole IT open source world is burnt out and I'm tired of trying to make people interested.
To people who say this was product/market fit or I should have waited longer - respectfully, you're wrong. I know infinitely more about this space than all but about 5 people in the world :) The causes of this are interesting...
Basically (1) agile schedule pressure means no one has time at work, (2) DevOps has failed to deliver on the original vision. Both of these took time to build up and cause damage. About 12 years, honestly.
