Odd one, this, because I think we should have left – leaving the EU via withdrawal agreement was the most democratic outcome
So why isn't our system broken? Because I don't think a different system would have delivered it..

Nigel Farage ahead of Corbyn and May as best to "lead UK out of Brexit crisis": 28% to 24% and 21% @ComRes
And Corbyn leads May as "best PM":

My own interpretations and views, using information from the YouGov website.

Headline is Brexit Party leading at 30% followed by Labour at 21%.

29-30 April
2/ So what can we learn from this poll beyond the headlines?

Firstly, it is a poll. Polls have a margin of error.

Next, the headline numbers exclude Don’t Know (DK) and Won’t Vote (WV).

This chart shows the extent of these categories 👇🏽
3/ As can be seen in the chart, DK topped the poll! Ahead of even the BP.

And WV came in 3rd, behind the BP but ahead of all other parties. More people stated they Will Not Vote than those who support the Labour Party. Astonishing really!

A thread on why there isn’t a combined ‘Remain’ ticket for the EU election.
1. Because it wld need to have registered already as a political entity with Electoral Commission & an agreement not to run at all from unequivocally remain SNP, Lib Dems, Plaid Cymru, Green & Change Uk
2. That was an unrealistic prospect & the deadline for registering that has passed so it is simply not an option
3. Given that a combined ‘Remain Party’ was not going to happen the focus should now be on maximising the total remain vote by increasing the reach of all campaigns

2017: Corbyn 12.8mn votes/ Gained 32

2019:

add first time voters (75% of those who vote, vote for Labour)

Subtract 2% of the population, 80% of whom vote Tories!

Labour Landslide on the cards!
Lab’s share of vote could be 14.5+mn

Once we take into account first time voters- 16 or under at 2017

first time voters -never voted before, disenchanted by Blair years whilst

removing Tory support -loss of voters due to old age

=> Lab will gain 100+ seats from Tories alone

EU has almost given up trying to understand what’s going on in UK.
Dutch PM Rutte compares Theresa May to Monty Python knight whose limbs get cut off in a duel but insists the fight was a draw. Elsewhere in EU, mood is darker esp with the prospect of a lengthy #Brexit delay 1
With UK politics mired in confusion, only thing EU can control this week is choreography at EU leaders’ summit, starting Thurs. Donald Tusk, EU Council president is visiting capitals to try to co-ordinate single EU response if/when Theresa May asks for article 50 extension 2
Today Tusk is in Berlin and Paris – the EU superpowers. But when it comes to delaying Brexit, any one of the EU’s 27 leaders has a veto. The decision must be unanimous 3

#BREXIT craziness update so maybots deal is blown out of the water l. Similarly corbyns vote of no confidence fails and won't be backed by SNP and lib dems
Despite her #BREXIT deal being defeated by biggest margin a government has lost a vote ever maybot seeks concessions on backstop despite being told to bog off by the EU with no realistic hope of a different answer
Corbyn meanwhile refuses to talk #BREXIT without no deal being ruled out despite knowing she can't do this whilst maybot makes no concessions either.

1) Thread - All Brexits are bad and what we voted for
It's often said by brexiters that "it's not all about economics"
However, the *actual* Leave campaign was almost wholly about economic arguments

With the leak of this 2-8% report those arguments are now trashed
2) We seem to have forgotten this however economics played a huge part in the Vote Leave campaign, making up over 2/3rds of the primary arguements. The clear message was we would at the least be no worse off and at best much better off. 4 of the 6 below state this clearly
3) & the fact is voters believed we would be no worse off. People prioritized immigration certainly, but against a backdrop of there being no consequences from Brexit - few are prepared to actually pay for ending FoM
