This is the real SAT "adversity score." People are so worried abt the most disadvantaged children gaining what they consider an unearned advantage while the system continues to work in favor of those with the most. Folks can't tell me a damn thing about a so-called meritocracy.
We're told programs designed to deal with disadvantage are unfair because they let undeserving children of color in over hardworking white students. And again and again we see that white children do well not only because they are born into advantage, but also bc sys is rigged.
What's worse, these kids using accommodations for learning disabilities bear none of the stigma that poor black and brown children face. As I say again and again, our schools are not broken. They are operating as designed.
