John Minford, #SunTzu 6: 29 "The enemy may be many, but we can prevent an engagement."

Prevent engagement. What an idea! Everyone has heard, whether they study Master Sun or not, that we must choose our own battles. NOT everyone has heard that a battle against many may be prevented. You simple do NOT show up!

The Skillful Warrior always knows victory in advance. When the many indicate he will be defeated, he chooses to NOT arrive. It's never easy. All warriors twitch and itch to enter, fight and win. Yet, winning, as Master Sun teaches us again and again, occurs before battle.

When I got started, actually, when I came out for @realDonaldTrump in 2016, I had a dream that all my liberal friends and I would agree to disagree, but so very civilly, so very agreeably. How naive and silly was I? They were many. I was few. I did not have a victory plan.

The first level of the many, who shocked me, were those I'd been friends and associates with for years, but we'd never gone political. Silly me, I thought friendships, service and profitable contribution were the basis of bond. I had no idea that politics breaks bond now, easily.

It does. I can't count the number of friends, and yes clients I lost in 2016 after coming out. The many - in that context - were those who judged both @realDonaldTrump and me for supporting him, and instantly found me to be a deplorable in every one of HRC's categories.

Not only am I NOT a racist, I don't have a single racist cell in my body. Yet upon supporting @realDonaldTrump, people who had known me for years suddenly discovered that I am, and without question, a racist, a Nazi, a white supremacist. No denial sufficed. Truth did not matter.

Before 2016, I was never involved in politics in any way. Not as a volunteer, and not connected in any way to anyone involved. When I came out as a Trump supporter, it was merely a statement of honesty and even a type of compulsion. I couldn't NOT share my beliefs.

The attack of the many, and the loss of business clients was as much as anything else, what hardened my heart and steeled my will. If you know me, and just because I support a candidate you oppose, you are now free to label me a racist, then something is going on.

I don't remember when I stopped engaging with liberals in hopes of building a constructive conversation. Maybe I haven't really even stopped yet. But, after I lost friends and clients, I noticed a new crop of liberals showing up. At first, I foolishly thought they sought honesty.

I have not given up on my vision of a constructive, honest relationship based on integrity and NOT on agreement. But, the liberals that I started collecting, were never going to go there. Their only objective was to convert or obstruct me. The debate raged. I finally learned.

I learned primarily that the only indication of debate won was the ensuing silence. If there are any liberals reading this, here's a bit of advice. Learn to concede when you're wrong. Learn to acknowledge your opponent for having won the debate. Go there.

Sadly, I've essentially given up on that dream. My real question, tactically, has become electoral, can we win the vote? Can we win the electoral college again? If we are the many, then we must organize ourselves for victory. We must mobilize agreement, if we are the many.

Strategically, I couldn't care less about elections or majorities or the many. Strategically, all I care about are principles. And, I am ready for us to lose elections if we're not the many. If we do, so what? Elections are far from everything. Principles are everything.

As the few, as just one person, I am prepared to fight for principles. The Declaration of Independence and The Constitution. I am also prepared to serve and support local leaders across our land in the same fight. Yet, I will NOT fail to hear Master Sun's counsel about the many.

I no longer work to convert liberals in their many. It's simply not a fight worth fighting. Rather, I believe in the sleeping giant of American greatness, Common Sense America. My fight is merely to marshal agreement into action, and that fight can be prosecuted one at a time.

We know the day and place of battle for the next vote, 3 November 2020. We will either be the many in the electoral college or we won't. Between now and then, there's essentially no point in fighting the many on the other side. There's nothing to win. Rather, we must walk away.

To apply to a different domain, I say this: husbands, do not fight your wives; children, do not fight your mothers. A wife's will is many, a husband's will is few. A child's will is weak, a mother's will is mighty. Sure, moms can be lax, loose and eternally forgiving.

But something happens when life springs to life within a mother's womb. Another thing happens, a sacred thing, when a mother uses her entire body and soul's force to bring that new life into the world. We men, we have nothing like this in our being or lives.

So, I urge you, men, walk away from those fights. She is many, you are few. Her fierce passion for the child, the children is something you'll never equal. Do not resist, prevent the engagement of conflict. You don't always have to merely surrender. You can just not engage.

Yet, I am happy to counsel pure surrender as well. When she is many and you are few, when her righteous will is greater than yours, the best way to walk away is to give in, to comply. Honor to the mothers, I say. Fathers, heed my counsel.

Saint Kenny has taught us: know when to hold 'em, know when to fold 'em, know when to walk away, know when to run. Wisdom is not in glorious defeat. Wisdom is in not fighting when the time to fight has not yet come. The victorious general shows up having won already.
