It's not just that Barr lied. He lied about *the most important thing* he could've lied about. His lie proves he set a *trap* for Mueller: he told Mueller that Mueller couldn't announce a finding on obstruction; then, when Mueller didn't, Barr attacked him—and exonerated Trump.
1/ I'm not convinced Barr didn't commit a federal crime here. When you insert yourself into a federal probe to give a false directive to the prosecutor—and do so *so you can rule differently on the case than the prosecutor was going to*—how is that not obstruction to save Trump?
2/ Of course Barr only *tried* to "exonerate" Trump—which is the point: Barr agreed, to CBS, that Mueller was his employee, and his employee wrote an incomplete report, and he accepted it anyway. He *did* so to speak on the matter *before* Congress—as he knew, the proper arbiter.
