June 6, 2009. Ten years ago today, Palm released a phone that literally changed my life.

A thread:
(Fair warning, I have a lot to say about webOS today. If you're not in the mood for a tweetstorm down mobile phone memory lane, you should go ahead and mute me now. I'll see you again tomorrow. <3)
Remember how the CES announcement for the Palm Pre came out of nowhere and blew everyone's minds? This was my #firstwebOStweet (tag yours too, I want to read them!)
Remember @preDevCamp, and how it almost didn't happen but we saved it? #webOSmemories dancrumb.com/predevcamp/pro…
Remember wireless charging and the only mobile multitasking that ever felt completely right? This was way back in 2009, it was a long time ago so I understand if you have forgotten. #webOSmemories
Remember using the konami code to enable developer mode? #webOSmemories

Remember @WebOSInternals and Preware, and how you could customize every aspect of how your phone worked with the same simplicity as installing a browser extension? #webOSmemories webosnation.com/how-install-ho…
Remember the elusive Palm d e c a l s?? I still have a whole stack of them, DM me for the address where you can send me a SASE and I will mail you one. #webOSmemories

Remember how app review for webOS didn't totally suck, because I carved out a space to be publicly human in a large corporation? #webOSmemories

Remember when HP bought webOS and we all had a bunch of feelings, but told ourselves it was going to work out? #webOSmemories

Remember when HP finally kinda got their shit together and launched the Touchpad, then canceled the whole webOS project a month later? #webOSmemories

Like, hundreds of people pretty much quit going to the office for 6 months while HP decided what they wanted to do with us. I took lots of naps and taught myself how to cook. It was actually pretty great, considering. #webOSmemories
After HP decided they'd be able to extract the most value by open sourcing webOS, I remember banding together w @mattsmcnulty, @graynorton and @kevinpschaaf on the Enyo team to strategize how we could build a moat against the executive HP bozos who were swooping in #webOSmemories
And then after I'd done everything I could do, I finally had to leave and it was sad. #webOSmemories

Out of everything webOS was, what I remember most is the genuine community that formed around it. From app devs to homebrew and themers and all the users who supported and believed. Knowing we were part of something good and true that didn't get enough credit. #webOSmemories
jk here's my real closing thought: MARRY webOS people. <3 #webOSmemories

This is my webOS story, but there's so much that I haven't covered. Please tag your #webOSmemories and I will retweet some good ones throughout the day.
