Another year, another political “sex scandal” in Malaysia. UMNO supreme council member lodged a police report on a video feat 2 men in bed - one allegedly looks like a politician. After, a political aide “swore” he & that politician were in the video. Wants him probed for graft.

Malaysia’s had its fair share of “salacious” allegations/ photos/ videos involving politicians - some doctored, others making it to court. The most high profile involved former opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim, who‘s been accused of sodomy more than once - incl by a former aide.
The aide, Haziq Aziz, uploaded a “sworn confession” on social media. The accused politician’s name is being withheld though until he responds - but both work for the current government.
PKR, the political party of the man implicated in the video, has issued a statement rejecting dirty politics and calling for the clip not to be distributed.

PKR’s youth wing has issued an invitation for Solat Hajat or special prayers to “reject slander”/ “menolak fitnah” at the Selangor Chief Minister’s residence tonight.

Latheefa Koya was formerly with PKR - the political party which one of the alleged men in the video is a part of.

Correction: The MACC statement only notes allegations against Azmin Ali but does not specify which allegations. Lokman Adam, however, made a MACC report with regards to the alleged UEM transfer and a police report on the viral video.
GLC UEM has thrown cold water on the alleged bank transfer to Azmin Ali though by refuting the existence of the supposed accounts they made the transfers from.

Haziq claims that he is concerned for the safety of his family and himself and believes his future is over while Azmin as a minister has “deniability”. Azmin had earlier slammed the videos & allegations as gutter politics and slander.

Haziq Aziz released on bail at around 5.45pm after being detained at KLIA some 24 hours ago in connection with a viral video featuring two men in bed.

Tensions are flaring in the People’s Justice Party (PKR) with deputy president Azmin Ali telling party president Anwar Ibrahim to “look at the man in the mirror”. This, after Anwar said Azmin should resign if it’s proven he’s the man in the sex video.

The statement is signed by vocal Azmin Ali supporters like Zuraida Kamaruddin but also those like Anwar’s sodomy case lawyer, R. Sivarasa and former Bersih chair Maria Chin Abdullah. Lines have been clearly drawn.

Police investigations show thousands of ringgit was paid for the video, part of a nefarious plot spearheaded by a political leader to shame and ruin the reputation of a certain individual.
The statement does not name him but with this, @AzminAli appears to have been cleared of wrongdoing by the police.
However, Azmin Ali could still be implicated if there are other forms of evidence other than the video. For now though, his claims of a politically-motivated take down have been validated.
To be more specific - police say HUNDREDS of thousands of ringgit were paid for the video. The political leader behind this uncovered plot was not named but we know Anwar Ibrahim’s political secretary & Haziq himself are in custody.

PKR president @anwaribrahim says his party welcomes a statement apparently saying his deputy, Azmin Ali, was not involved in the viral video & will take stern action should any PKR member have broken the law (in response to police saying a political leader was behind the video).
The IGP has said facial analysis could not determine the implicated - Economic Affairs Minister Azmin Ali - was in the viral “sex video”.

Farhash, PKR president Anwar Ibrahim’s pol-sec, had said there was a political conspiracy against Anwar and questioned why Azmin Ali hadn’t been arrested whereas Amirudin had reportedly said the person behind the video had gone through a similar ordeal.
