The principle is, using force against someone is justified only in defense/retaliation, never as an act of aggression. See Ayn Rand’s essays “Man’s Rights” and “The Nature of Government,” available both in her The Virtue of Selfishness and Capitalism: The Unknown Ideal.
Killing someone in self-defense is not an act of murder. Murder is killing someone in an act of aggression.
You seem to place no limits on a government’s ability to use force, as when you said in another tweet, that healthcare was a proper use of tax dollars. (I’m glad to learn that you think you have a right to dispose of my income.)
Taxation to support police and military protection is imposed in an effort to avoid the vastly greater aggression that would exist in their absence. It serves to reduce the aggression to which citizens would otherwise be subjected.
On this last point, see Mises, Human Action, 3rd ed., pp. 280ff. Even so, ultimately, even this taxation might be eliminated. See Ayn Rand, “Government Financing in a Free Society” in VOS.
