I like Stewart. He talks like an adult. He engages people from other parties, which is the kind of thing which, you know, wins elections. But once you get past the refreshing manner, his Brexit policy is useless.
His answer on Today programme just now very instructive. What would be different between his approach and May's? Frankly very little, except circumstance. And the same nonsense about how it would be good for Britain in some unspecifiable way.
The idea he is a Remain candidate is bizarre and suggests words now mean nothing in British politics. He is a Brexiter. And given he doesn't mention the single market or customs union much, seems to be a hard Brexiter.
He is very unlikely to win, of course. But if he did, it would be ghastly to see this fundamentally decent man torn to pieces by Brexit. And that's exactly what would happen. He'd be as screwed as anyone else.
