Little Saturday rewind. Reason I keep contradicting those saying or implying the EU will backtrack on the Brexit red lines is that I spent 3 years hearing US complaints about the EU, in TTIP talks, and then how the EU dismissed these internally. Going to be nicer to the UK?
Some of those suggesting the EU will backtrack have experience of negotiating - but within the EU. Where the UK was one of the biggest players and there was an art to bending apparent red lines to reach compromise. Totally different in international negotiations.
Looks like @DmitryOpines is thinking similarly about realism versus naive optimism in Brexit talks.
