Don't get him wrong, he loved talking to his
"Bakugo, Mitsuki!"
Izuku nearly dropped the phone.
"13 years and 8 months." Izuku slapped a hand over his month. Why did he know that?
Sure, he remembered when Kacchan--Bakugo left.
Izuku bit at his lip. He didn't want to ask, but he needed to know. "Did Katsuki move back, too?"
"No, Mitsuki was telling me he's a hero in America now."
"But he's here for now! He was so kind to help his parents transition back. He'll be at the dinner."
"Wonderful! I'll send you the details so you have them on your phone. Do you think your friend still likes spicy curry? I know Mitsuki always adored spicy food."
"I wouldn't know." Izuku felt his face heat.
"Love you too."
He hung up the phone. Things had been...different when K-Bakugo left. They weren't friends; they weren't even friendly. Bakugo had yelled at Izuku that he didn't need saving and then left.
So why did Izuku feel like a mess?
"You made it!" His mother smothered him a hug despite only reaching his waist. "The Bakugos are here."
He walked through the doorframe but waited for his mother to take the lead further into the house. Sure enough, their living room couch held all three members of the Bakugo family but as soon as Izuku laid his eyes on Katsuki, he couldn't look away.
And by the sharp smile on Katsuki Bakugo's face, the other man knew it.
"Izuku-kun! It's been so long!"
Mitsuki pulled back and gave him a strange look before she turned back to her son.
"I'm not doing anything." Katsuki smoothly replied in a voice so low that it resonated with the beat of Izuku's heart and restarted its natural rhythm. He was going to die tonight, wasn't he?
"Like hell you aren't. Stop with the pheromones!"
"I said, stop!"
"Sorry, Auntie." Katsuki didn't sound sorry.
Mitsuki growled in warning before turning to the Midoriyas. "We're used to his scent by now, but Katsuki is...special when it comes to his Secondary Gender."
"Special?" Izuku whispered.
Katsuki stopped in front of him, waiting for an answer.
Katsuki didn't confirm but his smile, all pointed canines was enough.
Ho--how! Enigmas were so rare; practically a legend! They say only 1 is born a generation, if that. Good thing too.
"Alright! Who's hungry? We should eat."
Dinner was hell. Izuku tried to keep up with small talk, to keep his eyes down.
"No boyfriend, either."
Dinner went by in a blur. Every moment felt like a strain on Izuku's heart but when it was over, Izuku nearly cried out in pain. There was no way Izuku would see Katsuki again, after all.
Izuku stood dutifully by the door like a good son, right next to his mother as he waited for her to hug her guests good bye. He hugged them too, Mitsuki first, then Masaru. Then--
He was shocked when Katsuki leaned in for a hug. He froze.
Izuku shivered as Katsuki leaned away, but it didn't go unnoticed how Katsuki's hands trailed down his back
Izuku couldn't form words as the Bakugos left. His mother closed the door. He stayed around to help clean up, but the second he walked out the door, he reached into his pocket.
He was a goner.
