GP The Democrat debates do have one useful purpose, to show the stark political party divide between globalism (Democrats) and nationalism (Republicans).
GP Globalism leads to horrible ideas such as treating illegal immigrants as citizens with "free" healthcare, open borders, driver licenses, access to public schools, welfare benefits, etc.
GP Both nationalism and globalism can be toxic (see, e.g., nationalism's isolationist foreign policy and restrictive trade), but globalism is the biggest problem at the moment.
GP Globalism's destroyed certain industries in this country, leading to massive layoffs, never-coming-back jobs, and creating the conditions for a rise in unproductive nationalist fervor.
GP Globalism's led the entire Democrat party to believe all Americans are ready to jettison their American-ness in favor of becoming "citizens of the world," whatever the heck that means.
GP Judging Democrats by their actions, it means pollyannaish foreign policy, self-destructive trade policy, dehumanization (abortion, government dependency), collectivism/socialism (depending on the scale), and suppression of constitutionally guaranteed individual rights.
GP This is one of the many things American "deplorables" didn't like about Hillary in 2016 and Democrats are apparently doubling down on this behavior for 2020 in an attempt to win by more popular votes but still lose the electoral college.
GP People in Pennsyltucky, Michigan, and Wisconsin aren't dumb. They voted rationally. The choice was between a woman who clearly hated them and a guy with massive flaws who identified the same critical issues they did: jobs, trade, economy, illegal immigration.
GP Hillary's plan was essentially, "screw 'em, we'll make them government dependents, what's the difference between poor whites and poor blacks?" Trump told them he'd fight for them to get their jobs back.
GP Democrats offered (and offer) terminal government dependency. It's their solution to everything. Trump and many but not all Republicans offer self-reliance with assistance as necessary.
GP The large mass of people in America's heartland cherish things that are punchlines to most coastal elites (Democrats), thing like property rights, self-reliance, hard work, and military service.
GP Democrats offered them none of that. Democrats' outstretched hand is that of a drug dealer offering the first hit for free. Come get your government dependency, it won't cost you anything.
GP And the flyover deplorables were having none of it. They know a bad deal when they see one. They chose to take their chances with a loose cannon who at least said the right things. If he delivered on a fraction of them and otherwise arrested the rot in DC, it'd be a net win.
GP The allure of Trump wasn't Trump as savior, it was Trump as tourniquet and trauma surgeon. Deplorables perceived him (correctly) as someone who didn't GAF about Washington pieties and niceties.
GP Trump didn't and doesn't kowtow to the press as if they were some sort of borderline inbred and retarded priestly caste worthy or respect for simply existing. Trump called media on its bias and bullsh*t, punching back twice as hard.
GP Americans who voted for Trump in swing states weren't quite sure what Trump was, but they knew three things: he wasn't a coastal elite Democrat who looked down on them; he wasn't Hillary; and he wasn't a globalist. This, I believe, is why they voted for him.
GP Based on the Democrats' performance and responses in the debates, it looks like Democrats haven't learned their lesson. Don't be globalists and don't be condescending pricks.
GP So, at this point, Democrats are setting themselves up (again) for soul-crushing defeat (again) to a man they viscerally loathe (again) for the sole reason that they do not understand, cannot comprehend, or cannot believe swing voters want what they openly say they want.
GP This went on a lot longer than I intended. Sorry, people. Muh bad.
