extraordinary that ⁦@DavidGauke⁩ is facing potential deselection tonight when he voted for Brexit Deal three times
the person who proposed the motion has just told the private meeting he only joined the Conservative party in February
He has just called Gauke a “Brexit wrecker” with an “extremist anti-Leave stance”
Gauke’s response: “There is an attempt to fundamentally change the nature of the Conservative Party.”
Gauke states that of the 50 people that signed the petition on the motion “The majority have joined in the last 12 months.”

“Are we morphing into a new party, the Brexit party”. If so “I’m not the candidate for you.”
Someone has just suggested that the proposer night have received funding from Arron Banks: “I can assure you I have no funding”.
One person on the floor has just decribed the withdrawal agreement as a “surrender document”. I’m told that “anger is rising”.

Gauke says: “If I have to change my tune under the threat of deselection, then I’m not going to do that”.

Vote is at 9pm
Gauke has just claimed that he has seen - in the room - the man who he believes is seeking to become the Brexit Party candidate against him at the next general election .
Breaking:

Gauke has survived the vote

187 papers issued.

Against 123. For 61. Abstentions 1.
