On this Ruga Issue its always important to always take note of the issues. the one that is doing my head in is the purported forceful land grab by the FG
THE LAND USE ACT IS CLEAR
All land comprised in the territory of each State in the Federation are hereby vested in the Governor of that State&such land shall be held in trust&administered for the use&common benefit of all Nigerians in accordance with the provisions of this Act.
The Land Use act has a clause that states that there are also lands vested in the Federal government or its agencies examples
Railway Land
Interstate Highways
Seaports and the Likes
So how you believe the FG is going around grabbing land for RUGA has to be the funniest thing i have heard in a while, the FG doesn't even have that power.

Another angle is that the FG passed a bill to push this RUGA thing, which is laughable again
You dont need a bill to push policy that doesn't seek to amend the constitution as it is. you will need budgetary approvals to push said policy.
Now everyone is shouting that the Govt is trying to push a fulani agenda

We have decried the open grazing system of getting cattle fed which made no sense and constantly out Herdsmen and farmers at loggerheads.

Asides the encroachment on private property
There is a National Livestock Transformation plan that is set to run from 2018 to 2027 which will cost 90b to run
The plan will be piloted in Adamawa, Benue, Kaduna, Nassarawa, Taraba and Zamfara states
The 6 pillars include

Economic investment
Conflict resolution
Law and order
Humanitarian relief
Information
Education and comms
The document says that the budgeted amount would help increase the country's yield of cattle milk per day and breed improvement of local herds
Through the priority breed improvement activity and the high yielding pasture the programme will enable btwn 150k and 200k local dairy cows produce up to 5 litres of milk per cow per day for at least 250 days a year
By year 10 the cross bred cows will be producing 60 litres of milk daily and a cumulative 668m litres yearly and a milk revenue of 241 billion naira
In 2016 a total of 897 communities were affected by the borders- farmer crisis

Affecting 21,756 households resulting in the damage if 13,050 buildings, 1.144 schools and 164 PHC in 5 states namely Adamawa, Benue, Kaduna, Taraba and Nassarawa.
The plan include creation of large ranches in each of these states. A Ranch Design Plan has also been proposed in models of various sizes clustered in 94 locations in the 10 pilot states.
The government intends to transition pastoralism to ranching in order to reduce the struggle for common resources, the proposed ranch size models are: “Cluster 30, 60, 150 and 300 cows ranch models in a location within the donated gazetted grazing reserves
And “a minimum 1000 cows breeder ranch in 7 of the 10 pilot states.”
My issue now is why the anger over this RUGA thing

No southern state is involved in this RUGA thing but we are shouting islamization and a fulani agenda.

People dont even know how dangerous this narrative is
The Govt invests in different agricultural schemes and no one bats an eyelid
The govt secured the approval of a grant of $1.1 million from the African Development Bank (AfDB) for the restructuring of the Bank of Agriculture, aimed at staff training to strengthen service delivery
No one screamed Fulani Agenda then

The govt also facilitated the payment of the sum of N20 billion, as part of the debts owed agro-dealers while efforts are on to fully settle the outstanding liabilities

No agenda still o
The govt also established a N50 billion mechanisation fund to facilitate the second phase of Agricultural Equipment Hiring Enterprise (AEHE) to roll-out 6,000 tractors and 13,000 harvest and post-harvest equipment units across the country.

No fulani agenda abi ?
The govt also set up 40 large scale rice processing plants and 18 High Quality Cassava Flour plants with a stake commitment of China EXIM 85% and Nigeria Bank of Industry BoI 15% through concessional credit facilities of US$383,140,375.60 for the rice mills and US$143,722,202.40
The Presidential Fertilizer Initiative (PFI) has resulted in the revitalization of 14 blending plants across the country, with a total installed capacity in excess of 2 million
Presidential Fertilizer Initiative (PFI) delivered 10 million 50kg bags(500,000MT) of NPK 20:10:10 fertilizer at a price of N5,500 in time for the wet season which is down from the price of N9,000 per 50kg bag in 2016, a 40% reduction in price.
No one screamed an islamization or fulani agenda

When it's time to ranch

It becomes an agenda
I feel like some people dont want this issue btwn herdsmen and farmers to end and its ridiculous

We need to move away from open grazing and find a way to confine these cattle to set out spaces.
Pilot states for the RUGA initiative are Sokoto, Adamawa, Nasarawa, Kaduna,
Kogi, Taraba, Katsina, Plateau, Kebbi,
 Zamfara and Niger.

So why are you shouting that the govt is trying to take your land in the south

The FG doesnt even have that power.
The Nigeria Incentive-Based Risk Sharing System for Agricultural Lending on Thursday said about 8,000 cattle and small ruminants valued at N1.6bn were being consumed in Lagos State daily

Lagos alone o
As early as 2016

Cattle was already being moved by rail to lagos

15 wagons of 500 cattle transported from the Zamfara to Lagos. Witnessed by the then Gov of Zamfara Yari Abubakar
In 2016
NIRSAL estimated the total live animal trade between the North and South to be from N850bn to N950bn per annum.
