@kenblackwell has an excellent piece about @realdonaldtrump’s meeting with Qatar’s emir on Monday—and some of the crucial issues he needs to raise.

Here are a few:

townhall.com/columnists/ken…
(1) Qatar’s support for the Muslim Brotherhood, the wellspring of modern jihad—from ideology to fundraising to organization to recruitment.

The MB is the key to the “radicalization process,” and Qatar has been and is the Islamist group’s biggest state supporter.
(2) Al Jazeera might be a popular TV channel, but it’s not just that: it’s an instrument of Qatar’s foreign policy.

Qatar takes advantage of its popularity in the Arab-speaking world to foment revolutions in their neighboring states, empowering the Muslim Brotherhood everywhere.
(3) Qatar did this successfully with Egypt, Libya, Tunisia. It agitates for Intifadas against Israel to support the rejectionist Hamas (a Muslim Brotherhood branch) as well as other terrorists in the Palestinian Territories, ensuring there will never be peace.
(4) Qatar tried fomenting revolutions in Saudi Arabia and Jordan. Egypt ultimately fought back against the Muslim Brotherhood regime Qatar wanted to install there, but it was not without great cost.
(5) Qatar—through its friends in the media and the politicians it bought in the US—helped make an Iranian proxy war on Saudi Arabia’s southern border into another version of Gaza in the public’s consciousness. People know *nothing* about what’s really going on in Yemen.
(6) As @kenblackwell points out, Qatar’s state subsidies for it airline industry is going a long way towards putting US carries out of business. This is in violation of an agreement with the US—and something you’d think @realDonaldTrump would care a lot about.
(7) Most people don’t know that 88% of Qatar’s population is comprised of foreign workers. These foreigners are *all* working under draconian laws, and many have to pay to be allowed to leave. Most of them are working under appalling conditions ahead of the World Cup.
