As we come close to wrapping a bow on stock returns this decade, some perspective.

Average real returns (after inflation) per decade were 6.6% per year.

Worst was -3.4% (2000s)
Best was 16.7% (1950s)

We're currently ending the top 5 best decades...is that predictive at all?
If you look at the three worst decades (1970s, 1910s, 2000s, average -2.6%), future returns were 12.3%...Nice!

If you look at the three best decades (1920s, 1950s, 1990s, average 15.8%), future returns were 1.1%...Yuck!
We're ending the decade at 5th highest out of 11, where one would likely expect lower returns in the 2020s (but still positive).

BUT......

1/ Ha, good to see I triggered so many people yesterday will how I invest my own money. The responses are funny...



For the new tweeps and followers, I've disclosed how I invest and my holdings for many years on the blog...a reminder for context...
1b/ Of course, this should really matter to nobody other than my wife and family.
But it's useful to walk through as there is so much taboo around money and how people invest.

It's probably the most personal question you could ask someone, how exactly do you invest your money?
1c/ Next time you sit down with your financial advisor or investment manager, maybe ask them "How specifically do you invest your own money. Will you show me your portfolio"?

This may make them uncomfortable. Many would probably balk. Forget on TV or publicly...

Kashmir was doomed from the moment Paki army sent in its non-uniformed foot soldiers into the state and after a few initial, dispersed skirmishes, captured & raped Muzaffarabad on 22 Oct 1947, followed by the capture & rape of Baramula a few days later.

#Khashoggi Case Thread: I am going to ‘pin’ this post to use it as an ‘Info Thread’ on the #Khashoggi Case. I am in #Turkey. I’ve been following the case closely and with access to sources & experts here. This is a very ‘sensitive’ criminal case due to ‘Diplomatic Booby Traps’!!!
The Evidence Obtained Outside Cameras will not show any evidence of ‘tempering’ but other than license plates of dozens of diplomatic cars (Many with tinted windows-large trunks) with related time stamp, drivers Info, model/year: Nothing.
#Turkish Intel-Investigative Bodies also have the list of all Diplomatic & Private Saudi & “other significant’ Planes in #Turkey for the period of ‘interest.’ Many of the Target airports have their own security cameras & related evidence.

Alright ayo it's @Claystanman here and for #BlackHistoryMonth we're thinking it'll be a good idea to try and spread knowledge of the history of Black American/African solidarity with and black folks' presence in #SouthAsian resistance.
Bayard Rustin, a gay black man who worked in movements for civil rights, socialism, and gay rights (later known as one of MLK's foremost organizers) organized the Free India Committee & was often arrested for protesting against British colonialism in Africa and India in the 40s.
Bayard's work in supporting the Indian independence movement was reflective of his internationalist approach.

He also participated in the March for Survival at the Thai-Cambodian border in 1980, and in 1982 founded the National Emergency Coalition for Haitian Rights.
