Big earthquake just now.
Lasted 30-45 seconds. Some shit fell off my desk and my pool overflowed.
BREAKING: 7.1 earthquake near Ridgecrest.
Wow, less than 1 KM depth. USGS says to expect severe damage to most buildings.
a 7.1 earthquake is 5 times (!) stonger than the previous 6.4
Police are reminding people to only call 911 in an emergency.
Kern County fire responding to a bunch of calls. Elevators stuck, people having difficulty breathing, broken water lines.
USGS downgrades it to a 6.9. Multiple structure fires burning now.
Depth of 0.86 KM, which is extremely shallow.
USGS just bumped it back up to a 7.1 (8:47 PM)
And in the middle of all this, Kern County fire is responding to... a stabbing at a Starbucks.
My cat is not happy.
At least she undertook the proper earthquake protocol

The tape acquired by @AlbertoNardelli between Salvini's deputies and Russian officials discussing Russia funding Salvini's political party is a watershed moment in understanding how the Kremlin covertly operates.
The scheme is utterly fascinating and terrifying. Here's how it would work:

Rosneft (or a similar Russian oil company) sells $1.5 billion in oil to an Italian oil company using intermediary companies. The transactions, done over the course of a year, would be discounted...
The discounts, totaling $65 million, would then be fed into Salvini's political party via the secret Russian and Italian intermediary companies.

I’m increasing convinced that Epstein’s fortune is a house of cards. The 2 things we know that he did were 1) throw lavish parties for some of the most influential people in the world and 2) run an underage sex ring. Can’t help but think his $ was made here.
He ran a bizarre hedge fund yet literally 1 client has been identified. The hedge fund is located in a tax haven where $ transactions are hidden. Where are the clients?
Prying open the accounting and bank statements of the hedge fund is going to unlock a lot of secrets. I hope prosecutors have already done this.

The quake is described as strong and felt across the oil-rich Khuzestan Province, neighboring Lorestan Province & Kuwait.

I'm an earthquake survivor from NZ (2011) who will provide reporting & commentary below, just as soon as I can load the USGS pages properly.

This was big, shallow, & the city has 28k people.

(2) OK, have given up on the USGS website for now. Current USGS-sourced assessment of this EQ is:

Mag: 7.1 (severe)
Depth: 0.9km (half a mile, v. v. shallow)
Location: 17km NNE of Ridgecrest, CA (very close to city)
(3) I would be very surprised if there is no loss of life from this EQ.

185 people died in the Christchurch NZ EQ of 2/22/11. I was thrown across the room, but was fine, compared to others.

Ridgecrest: 28,000 + rural areas is a lot of people affected.

#Breaking - Some defense sources report #Indian air strikes across the Line of Control in Muzafarabad, #Pakistan. Indian air force briefing expected later today. Pakistan said Indian jets dropped their payloads & "fled". More confirmation of details needed.
There are also reports of dual, air and ground Indian strikes in Pakistan occupied Jammu and Kashmir. No official word yet. Waiting for updates. Stay tuned.
There are also reports that 2 Pakistani JF-17s fighter jets have been shot down.
