1/n What distinguishes hispanics who identify as democrat from. those who identify as independent or republican? Beyond greater liberalism, I find some evidence (granted small N) suggesting it's a stronger sense of collective victimhood and (likely relatedly) Hispanic identity
2/n Perceiving Hispanics as more disadvantaged, but not perceived self-disadvantage (or socio-economics), predicts a greater likelihood of identifying as Democrat
3/n ANES doesn't have the perceived disadvantage variable, but it does have measures of identity importance + perceived discrimination against Hispanics, both of which significantly predict identifying as a Democrat.
4/n For the Democratic Party, the implications are clear: play up discrimination and speak to victimhood
