The announcement about Amazon EventBridge yesterday I think is much more important than most people in cloud will realise.

Events are everything.

While other vendors were fighting over compute, AWS got on with winning the events ecosystem.
Were they the first to build this type of product? No

Were they the first to help devs build event based systems? No
That's never been the point. Customers have been building stuff with Lambda, and have simply been evolving to the point where this product is now *needed*.

Customer pressure is what means this product will get used.
That is what all the other vendors are missing.

Building the ecosystem doesn't mean building all the services and saying "we do that too".

It means building just enough to allow customers to innovate, and then building services that allow them to innovate faster.
EventBridge is something that I've wanted for a long time.

I can work around it easily enough with AWS, and have done for years.

But now it's created, there are so many things I don't have to do.

That's why it's powerful.
