GP Congress can change immigration law any time it wants. Democrats would be more believable if they put forth legislation seeking compromise instead of staking out extreme positions for elections' sake.
GP Democrats aren't seriously seeking to solve the problem by hanging tough with no enforcement, no deportation, open borders, take all comers positions. They're posturing for their fanbois.
GP Same with Republicans who want to put up an giant concrete/steel barrier the entire border's length and deputize roving bands to grab illegals wherever they maybe found and chuck them over the wall.
GP I mean, *I'd* like that solution but most of America doesn't. There's got to be increased border security, tightened asylum laws, stricter employer enforcement with harsher penalties, and swifter deportation for those caught illegally present.
GP Couple that with eliminating chain migration (only spouses and children admitted on your visa/citizenship) and *increasing* legal immigration for skilled and unskilled workers as necessary. Eliminate the "buy your citizenship" visas where if you invest x dollars, you're in.
GP Legislate that only children of at least one permanent residents or at least one US citizen get birthright citizenship no matter where in the world they're born. Eliminate dual citizenship entirely by forcing dual citizens to chose their American citizenship or the other.
GP Give DACA kids present in 2012 or whenever Cap'n Penandphone started the program permanent residence but never citizenship. Their kids will be citizens and they won't get what their parents set out to steal for them, i.e., citizenship.
GP Consider giving illegals who can prove to a certainty they were present in 2012 some sort of revocable license to remain but not work or get benefits if they come forward + register. This protects the young + elderly + makes the working age choose between work + penury.
GP It's a compromise that would make no one happy. It's not perfect and would likely need to be tweaked significantly to get Dems and Repubs to sign on. But the clowns in Congress need to do something.
GP Doing nothing isn't fair to Americans and it's cruel to the illegals Democrats claim to love.
GP So go ahead, get it out. I'm a cuck RINO and a rat bastard for trying to craft a workable solution. Sorry for trying to move the ball forward.
