The Brexit debate was enough to break up families.
Every time anyone on the Remain side said Brexit would damage trade the Leave advocate would say "You really think they'd let that happen? They need us more than we need them. We'll hold all the cards and get the deal WE want".

My point is:
After a fierce national dialogue where one side said Brexit would deliver a pure kind of sovereignty and wouldn't make us poorer because we'd get a deal, and THAT side won... When Brexit doesn't deliver that, the winners have a moral & societal duty to make it right.
