The vote of college students doubled from 2014 to 2018, so now Republicans are closing polling places on college campuses, enacting new residency requirements & not allowing students IDs. Despicable nytimes.com/2019/10/24/us/…
60,000 Florida students voted on college campuses in 2018 after federal judge overturned ban on early voting sites at state universities. So this year GOP legislature said all early voting sites must have “sufficient non-permitted parking” which most campuses don't. So absurd
The most egregious example of student voter suppression is still Texas, where you can vote with a gun permit but not a student ID

Getting into the first #1619Project essay, and the author (Nikole Hannah-Jones) is both laudably writing blacks into American history and shamefully writing some inconvenient others out of it.
She really wants the white colonists to be not merely misguided, but evil. That's harder with the non-slaveholding northerners, who began and sustained the rebellion, so they disappear in her text.

To save our democracy, Democrats need to win big. They not only have to beat Donald Trump in 2020, but also have to achieve majorities in the House and Senate that are big and stable enough to survive the 2022 midterms.
Doing that will require winning back states and districts that they lost in 2014 and 2016, taking others that have long been in GOP hands, and governing in a way that keeps those states and districts from turning red again.
