My Methods teachers taught us to think of the different ways people take in information and design lessons to utilize as many as possible, hearing, seeing, doing, reading, etc.
They taught us to consider barriers, learned helplessness, and anxiety. I think they were exceptional
So, I had textbooks at two reading levels which was a lot more work, but helped my students learn. I had a student who did well on daily work and failed the exam take exams after school one the take as long as you need plan who went from "I'm just a D student" one year to
objecting to getting a B on an essay the next year. "I'm an A student" she said. I laughed and asked her to remember what she said last year when I asked her about anxiety.
