In honor of Kamala Harris’ upcoming presidential seppuku in which she drops out after being utterly annihilated in a debate, I would like to present this thread I did 2 years ago in which I called her running, and described why she was wholly unelectable. threadreaderapp.com/thread/9269039…
Some of these points were used in the utterly devastating broadside she received that sent her floundering. Not saying her opponent got them from me but I heartily remember some of her fanboys swinging by to say ‘You didn’t take her down, she stands strong against dorito hitler!’

1) Twitter REALLY wants to convince us that #TrumpRecession is trending.

Like, they REALLY REALLY REALLY want to convince people this is an important topic a lot of people are talking about.
2) They want to do this because an economic downturn can often be caused by panics, when enough people all simultaneously shit a brick.

Get enough people to think that a recession is on the horizon, they'll stop spending money, and trigger an economic panic.
3) Even South Park understands and explains this (this is the only place I could find the specific clip I was looking for. Yes it is a Kyle speech. Just roll with it.)

Another random late night thought: I sincerely doubt Trump will go to war with China. Not because it would be destructive, it wouldn’t be, China doesn’t hold a fucking candle to our military and their island bases are sitting ducks. B/c he’s going to exhaust every option first.
I instead see a situation in which as human rights abuses escalate Trump will use that to ratchet up the pressure on Xi in Beijing, and use the protests as a casus belli to apply the sanctions and such he couldn’t use in trade deals.
Remember, he has a standing executive order making it easy for the treasury to sanction abusers of human rights. He could cut off massive parts of Beijing’s elites from the financial world. China is also suffering bank runs right now in major banks.

I'm a Corbyn supporter, and a Remainer. How do I square that? Quite easily. I square it in the same way as 13 million people did when voting Labour in 2017 despite Labour accepting and respecting Brexit.
In my view, what united all of us 13 million was common, shared values. Looking out, not looking in; wanting a better, much more inclusive, compassionate society, which takes cares of others and is at ease with itself.

#Thread Questions you should be asking your financial planner / unit trust agent should be why am I paying so much fees upfront (5%?) on top of my management fee.
There are two kinds of fees investors typically pay:
(1) Upfront fees (charged one off & ranges from 1-5%)
(2) Management fee (charged annually between 1-2%)
The 3 largest unit trust companies in Malaysia are all bank owned and make up about 70% of the unit trust market overall. Fees charged by the UTs go to the distributors. These distributors are all wholly owned by the bank (parent co), or an in house agency.

Okay first things: You may already be covered medically and saving money. How do you find this out? Look at your CTC in your appointment letter or your payslip

Do you have something called PF on it? That's a saving!

Did HR issue you an insurance card? That's your Mediclaim.
Things to ask: How much PF is being deposited into my account each month?

What's my sum insured? Is it just me who is covered or my dependents too?

e.g. You have 3 lacs for self plus dependents (parents/spouse/child). This means upto 3 lacs to be used by any of you per year

Years ago, I used to say the best time to have money is when you’re young and can enjoy it. Now, I’ve realized that you need money more when you are older. Kids, retirement etc. Don’t be desperate. You don’t have today, you can have tomorrow & still enjoy life.

There is no latecomer in the “success world” or “rich world”. Whenever you get there, you are welcome. You will enjoy your life and almost forget you ever suffered. It doesn’t have to be now and there is no prize for being the first person to get “there”.
When I was in my teens and early twenties & a bit of late twenties, I used to marvel at how some of my age mates were enjoying life. I felt I would never catch up and they were already ahead of me. Tah! There is nothing like that. Today, none of us remembers who succeeded first.
