I’ve had many requests to look at Federal level races. I may still look at individual races in the process, but I probably won’t go “all in” the way I have with Texas politics. That said, I am going to start tracking some Federal level PACs.
The money being spent on federal PACs is more than insane. And I think people need to understand who is funding those PACs. So, I’ve put together this new tool with a few PACs to get it started.

The set-up is fairly straight forward
- Drop down to select the PAC (or don’t it you want it all combined)
- US map with dots on cities (click on a dot to filter results)
- Treemap at the bottom with scaled States (click to filter results)
- Donor list

I’ll add more as we go, but I wanted to go ahead and share. Even with limited PACs loaded so far, there are real insights to glean.
Here are a few items as samples of what you can see.
- Loaded in 9 PACs (added a few since the original post)
- $83 million, 7,190 contributions, 4,597 contributors
Clicking in the treechart on Texas, which on the PACs I've loaded has contributed the most money
- $23 million, 1,260 contributions, 1,098 contributions
So which PACs got the most money so far from Texas?
- Trump Victory $10.57 million
- Engage Texas $9.59 million
- Cornyn Majority Committee $2.32 million
Trump Victory PAC took in $10.5 million from Texas, in 522 contributions, from 470 contributors. But a lot came from a few.
- Dallas $2.2 million
- San Antonio $1.67 million
- Houston $1.65 million
Engage Texas PAC took in $9.5 million, all from Texas, in 22 contributions from 22 contributors
And I'll drop in the last example as the Cornyn Majority Committee PAC. They took in $3.2 million overall, but 2.3 million from Texas: 526 contributions and 516 Texas contributors.
Those three PACs were highlighted due to the largest individual donors from Texas giving to them. This is where I think the story is, rather than individual donors giving $2,800 directly to a candidate.
