@thomasbrake
I am very much in tune with the LD approach over Brexit.
But your and @joswinson's approach to Corbyn's VONC/IG [interim govt] letter - on Sky News - just does not cut the mustard ⤵⤵⤵.
Here's why....
(And, btw, I'd quite appreciate a considered reply!)
1) This may be Silly Season nonsense. It may be Corbyn burnishing his EU credentials. But >>it may not be<<.
2) It might never work. But ( we are in weird times!) it might just. You can't exclude it a priori.
3) Esp since Grieve and Bebb seem willing to talk to Corbyn...
3) How would it look if LDs fail to respond to this, and ND Brexit is the direct outcome? It would make the tuition fees farrago look like a church picnic.
4) You might want to focus on SO14/ legis approaches. they are inherently risky. Two avenues of approach are better.
5) Do you really think LDs will potentially lose votes by engaging w Corbyn? As opposed to losing votes if they fail to, and ND happens?
6) If a GNU/IG is highly restricted in what it can do, and time limited, and leads to a GE and 2Ref, what's your real problem with this?
Mr brake, Ms Swinson: your current approach makes LDs look >>tribal<<.
It puts me off. So goodness knows what it does to others.
It is not a good look.
You will lose few if any votes by talking with Corbyn.
You will lose more - esp if we go go ND - if you do not.
This JC VONC/IG thing may not work.
But, so far, your approach to it looks:
- strident;
- unhelpful;
- tribal;
- non-collaborative.
All of which are looks which, I am sure, you'd like to avoid.
Suggestion: follow Grieve and Bebb. Open politics.
Thanks for reading.
