He expects to be stopped in what he is doing now. What he wants is to be seen as the PM who tried everything in his power to deliver a hard Brexit to the UK but was foiled by Corbyn & other opposition across the Commons. He then calls a general election which he hopes to lose >
If he is unfortunate enough to win, no one blames him for the catastrophes of Brexit because he's only doing what the people demanded. If he loses, Labour has to deal with all the crap of a second referendum, Brexit being cancelled, all the backlash to that. >
Come the subsequent GE, Johnson storms back in with a big majority AND with Brexit having been kicked way back into the long grass to be ultimately forgotten about. >
Of course this is a massive, horrific gamble / gambit. He's playing chicken with the entire British economy, public services, all our lives and livelihoods. But he doesn't care, he's a sociopath & the worst that can happen is he retires to his shed like Cameron, still a rich man.
