I saw this racist response to someone's accurate comment that America was founded as a slavocracy. Bigotry is always about the general & the particular. We can see our own in the particular and the "other" in the general. He sees Africa as a monolith - cannot see the particular 
I mean, think about it. The 100 Years War was Europeans killing Europeans. The Napoleonic Wars were Euros killing Euros. That makes the same kind of sense as saying Africans were selling Africans. They didn't see themselves as Africans.
They considered themselves Yoruba, Igbo, Fulani, Ghanian, Angolan, & many different ethnicities, just as Europeans see the French as separate from the German and the Spanish. Whenever someone says African sold their own people, they are seeing Africa as one people, not thousands
There are over 2000 languages in Africa. There are 200 languages in Europe. And yet we can see the particular of Europe and not the particular of Africa. We allow people to repeat the libel that Africans sold their own people as though it were morally different
