One important thing to non-lawyers may not realize re: all the legal drama around #DefendBOS this week:
The judge's refusal to accept @DARollins's disposition of these charges & forcing these cases to (illegal) arraignments gave every one of those people a criminal record.

@DARollins Even if he had dismissed the cases *immediately after arraignment* the legal act of accepting the charges creates an item on a Massachusetts criminal record. There is no way he didn't know that.

@DARollins It may sound small, but this stuff matters. The system no longer sees you as someone with a "clean record." And just having had a charge entered can be used against you for any number of immigration purposes.
I ALWAYS try to resolve cases before arraignment for this reason.
