As attitudes understandably harden towards us in Europe, it really is vital, if we are to safeguard against No Deal, that we have an interim Government in place that can act responsibly in the circumstances that our request for an extension is refused. ep.ft.com/permalink/emai…
It genuinely saddens me that elements in Labour see this national crisis as a chance to advance narrow party interest. Labour, too, must coalesce around a unity figure to lead an emergency Govt. If it insists on Corbyn the consequences of any No Deal will be on its head too.
For what it's worth I don't understand a vote under the Fixed Term Parliament Act to be a constitutional precondition to the formation of a new Government under a new PM - but I am happy to be corrected.
