I'm not saying Leave voters who said Brexit wouldn't harm EU-UK trade, secretly wanted No-Deal and were just lying.

But if you stay silent when you discover what you said wasn't true i.e. let #NoDealBrexit happen, that's just as bad as lying. The country will never forgive you.
You're going to have to looking your kids in the eye, kids who didn't vote for this, as they're forced to live in the only economy on Earth that doesn't have a single free trade deal with anyone within 2000 miles... BECAUSE OF YOUR VOTE.

You could do the logical, patriotic and democratic thing and recognise that the sovereignty-restoring, EU-UK trade-protecting, smooth Brexit you voted for isn't represented by either Deal or #NoDealBrexit, and campaign alongside your compatriots to make MPs call a referendum.

Sorry, I actually got that wrong.
I based my calculations on a total reversal.
4% of 51.9% = 2.1
51.9% - 2.1% = 49.8

So...
If even 4% of Brexit voters don't want No-Deal, then #NoDealBrexit is against the will of the people.
So what are the odds that 96% of the people who argued for Brexit by swearing that it would produce an amazing trade deal, are all now OK with the exact opposite?

You know what? Let's ask Nigel Farage....

It'd be nice if you didn't manipulate people's Brexit fatigue by letting Nigel Farage pretend No-Deal Brexit is the end of the story... that we wouldn't need to be stuck in negotiations with the EU for the next 7-10 years.

If we call a referendum now and vote to stop Brexit, within a year, how many UK civil servants will be working on Brexit and EU negotiations? Zero. They will all be working on UK issues.

How many will it be if we leave with No Deal. The government has already allocated 17,000.

The majority of Parliament opposes #NoDealBrexit.
The majority of the People (54%) voted for parties whose manifestos opposed #NoDealBrexit.

So please, fight for a #NoDealBrexit if you want... But STOP pretending it has any democratic legitimacy.
Literally NOBODY would have voted Labour because they wanted #NoDealBrexit. They got 39.9% of the vote.

Labour's manifesto ruled it out and got a 6% increase in Remain voters.
Many voted Labour specifically to avoid #NoDealBrexit.

EU focus now is dramatically different from beginning of Brexit negotiations when Brussels' plan was undoubtedly to get UK to agree to the most advantageous deal possible seen from the EU perspective BUT /2
With no deal now considered the most likely scenario by EU, the bloc is in self-preservation, damage-limitation mode, with EU leaders wondering how they ..and the EU as a whole .. can emerge from the Brexit drama as unscathed as possible /3

conclusions. Here is some of the key thinking in European capitals on
the main #Brexit issues of the day: /1
On Labour/second referendum: Corbyn seen in Europe as convinced
eurosceptic so EU is sceptical of his backing a second referendum. EU
has watched #Brexit turmoil long enough to see huge complications in
holding the vote and realise many leave voters have changed their
mind. /2
Of course EU would still rather UK stayed but Europe's leaders don't
see this as realistically on the cards right now. Most realistic,
considering turmoil in Westminster, says EU council President Tusk:
would be to extend article 50 leaving process. /3

The ERG hates the backstop. They want a unilateral exit clause - but the more they talk about that, the more the EU and Irish are going to cling to the need for a backstop that guarantees no return to a hard border. /2
@theresa_may But let us say, for sake of argument, that the ERG gets its way.

The brave new PM (Raab, Boris, DD or whoever) rides into Brussels with an ultimatum: it's the deal-minus-backstop, or No deal.

And against all the odds and predictions of smart alecs like me, the EU caves... /3

As a #leavernow I would like to make it clear I knew exactly what I wished I'd voted for.
As a #leavernow I didn't believe a word of any of vote leaves promises and they had no impact whatsoever on any leave voter
As a #leavernow I knew #Brexit meant leaving the single market and didn't listen to Dan hannan keen Patterson or feudalism foxes website all of which were clear they favoured staying in the single market

I did a quick explainer for @prospect_uk on how #Brexit may affect #VAT, both domestically and in relation to EU-UK trade. Quick thread on some of the key points: prospectmagazine.co.uk/economics-and-…
1/ The UK, like all other EU member states, currently is part of the common EU VAT area. While the EU does not prescribe exact VAT rates, it put in place certain guidelines, e.g. a minimum standard rate of 15%, or limits on granting of reduced rates and exemptions.
2/ Leaving the EU presumably means leaving its VAT area (Monaco currently only non-EU state that is a member). This would have a range of serious implications, both positive and negative.

(Though some trade experts expect EU would offer UK continued membership, if asked.)

#1: When the UK voted leave, many said the EU would be weakened. Today it is clear that the contrary is true: it’s the UK not the EU that has been weakened by Brexit.
#2a Whatever people say, it would have been possible for Britain to change its mind about Brexit. Many political decisions, even after referenda, have been reversed in many countries.
