NEW: We obtained hundreds of photos of the facilities where the Trump administration has been detaining migrant children across the country. americanoversight.org/photos-from-in…
We've been investigating conditions in detention centers following reports of abuse, and we sued the Department of Health and Human Services for photos of the facilities.
The records we obtained include photos of high chairs, cribs and toys for very young children — a reminder of the wide age range of the kids the Trump administration has detained.
The images also show children's artwork, handwritten complaint forms, and signs explaining how to report abuse: americanoversight.org/photos-from-in…
The children's artwork references their experiences in getting to the United States, recent field trips, or their favorite foods.
One facility posted a notice reading: "If you are pregnant, you have the right to decide whether to have the baby or to have an abortion." Right next to it is a list of phone numbers for anti-abortion organizations.
We also obtained photos of complaint forms from Southwest Key facilities in Arizona and Texas. Southwest Key, was last month cited in an HHS Inspector General report for unsafe and unsanitary conditions at multiple locations.
As the president and his administration work to make life harder for immigrants and ramp up anti-immigration rhetoric in advance of the 2020 election, we're investigating the administration's immigration policies and the conditions in migrant shelters americanoversight.org/photos-from-in…
