Mult Co DA's office sends a press release correcting PPB's press release—where they incorrectly call a 'bias crime' an 'intimidation crime,' and don't include gender identity as a protected class. (These changes were adopted in April 2019.)
Five minutes later, PPB re-sends their original press release—nothing changed. Can't tell if it's MCDA shade or just a mistake. Either way, PPB is referencing outdated law.
Yes, this is the kind of riveting drama I live for.
Oh, I guess they DID correct one thing—PPB got the initial date of the crime wrong.
In conclusion! PPB sent a third email out updating the press release to reflect the most recent law.

The Community Engagement Plan is the final requirement needed to put the City of Portland in compliance with its DOJ settlement agreement. (ie: there's a lot at stake in council's approval today). Background: portlandmercury.com/news/2019/08/1…
After a brief council discussion, several members of the public share disappointment in the city for not better publicizing this noteworthy meeting. (Or for most PPB public meetings).

.@ronereynolds, who does not sit on the County Affairs committee, thanks Coleman for his "swift action." He says it's incumbent on lawmakers "to find the solutions" so there are no more Sandra Blands across the state.
Phillip Adkins, a DPS attorney says "the video Ms. Bland recorded during the traffic stop … was provided from counsel to Ms. Bland’s family."

@GFColeman is now needling Adkins on whether the family was allowed to keep the video and who else the video was sent to.

@FondOfBeetles @giyadas I'm American. I had a similar reaction. The Trump admin. memo is (predictably) idiotic use of language. But - I needed to get a better understanding of what the memo is so poorly attempting to address. Some things I didn't know about the BHO admn transgender policies:

Basically, 44's admin created a document that interpreted Title IX in some pretty radical ways that conflate biological sex (legally protected class) with gender identity so that the latter should be viewed as the former.
@FondOfBeetles @giyadas This was kind of a work around to the problem of resistance conservative legislators would have had to creating law to define gender identity as a protected class. The document basically lays out the expectation that schools will accept the conflation of sex with gender...
