Trump said talks with the Taliban are "dead." He said "it was my idea" to meet with the Taliban "and it was my idea to terminate."
Trump claimed the Taliban is "telling people" they "made a big mistake." He endorsed the general idea of meeting with bad actors, saying he has met with many "bad people" during his presidency and "meeting is a great thing," because without meetings, "war would never end."
Asked about his Republican primary challengers, Trump said, "I don't even know who they are." He then proceeds to talk about them and their resumes.
As he has before, Trump refers to the "Tallahassee Trail" while bashing Sanford, then corrects himself and says Appalachian Trail. He says the Tallahassee Trail is nice too.
Oops, messed up the World Cup date. World Cup is in 2026; Trump said that, to make it, "We're going to have extend my second term...I'm going to have to extend it for a couple years." (He has previously said this is a joke he makes to drive the media crazy.)
Trump said again that "we're getting the remains of our great heroes back" from North Korea. The remains recovery program has been suspended because North Korea has stopped cooperating, the Pentagon announced in May.
Didn't hear question, but on Bahamas, Trump said he doesn't want to allow "people who weren’t supposed to be in the Bahamas" to enter US. (There was an incident yesterday in which people trying to flee the Bahamas were forced to leave a ferry because they didn't have US visas.)
Trump is saying the usual about how he's building the wall "rapidly" (no new miles have been added during his presidency), how the Democrats want "open borders" (no party leader or prez candidate advocates this), how Obama left him "138" judicial vacancies (104).
Trump on why he wanted the meeting at Camp David: He thought "you know what, I don't like the concept of having it at the White House -- that would be a step too far," and there have been previous meetings "having to do with enemies, real enemies," at Camp David.
Trump said again that he could defeat the Taliban very easily but you would lose "millions and millions" of lives. He said again that the war, which is just shy of 18 years old, has been going on for "19 years -- 19 years."
Trump asked how Obama could possibly be considered a "great president" if he left Trump that many judicial vacancies, adding 34 to the number of vacancies left to him. (McConnell and company blocked many of Obama's late-presidency nominees.)
Trump promises, of the campaign, "I'm going to give out my financial condition," a "report." Talking of Pence's Doonbeg stay, he says he's so rich and successful that he doesn't need somebody staying a night at his hotel. But he adds that Pence "has good taste."
Trump repeated his case that the defeat in the House had nothing to do with him, since he "campaigned for senators." (Many of the House candidates in tough races didn't want him to come.) He added, "I was not running." (He told supporters he was on the ballot.)
Trump said that some people in the Bahamas (or perhaps specifically some people trying to get into the US from the Bahamas) are "very bad people," like criminals.
