Is #ROI a fallacy of AEC tech? For example - Can someone point me to a well-researched study with documented data collection and calculation methods and data excerpts that shows return on investment related to #BIM tech adoption in #AEC as an industry?
The top search result on Google is an @autodesk white paper where #ROI of #BIM is framed through a "customer perception study" - so it's valuable if customers think they're getting value? Not a single dollar figure is cited in this paper. Laughable. damassets.autodesk.net/content/dam/au…
More results are case-study driven and not easily extrapolated to indicate a larger #ROI rule or trend (imo) - note in this 2011 example that they frame it as "potential savings". Also note that #BIM and "pre-BIM" are not fully defined or qualified brikbase.org/content/bim-re…
Is #AEC better off with its tech today than 10-20 years ago? I believe so - but in my estimation there is very little understanding of quantifiable impact of today's #digitization efforts. Happy to be proven wrong. #ProveIt

Media that covers #Media #Publishing #Journalism #tech #SocialNetworks is often critical of traffic-driving algorithms, distribution of ad revenue, personal data collection/sale. Yet these writers have the ability to get users to force change. /1 notd.io/notes/56844813…
Most of the abuses that this sector of media is critical about come from internet giants, who pay lip service in response, because those abuses are very profitable, & regulation is unlikely in the US & users not motivated enough to change their usage of networks. /2
US regulation that would help stop the criticized practices is unlikely to help, mainly because Congress isn't qualified to design these regulations, so they would leave it to lobbyists working for the industry to be regulated /3

THREAD: With the announcement yesterday by India's opposition party of an intention to implement basic income for the poor (not UBI) one of the more fascinating results I've observed so far is that the parties appear to now be fighting over who thought of it first.
What's so interesting about this development in India is that it's *kind of* like if a Democratic president was talking about implementing UBI if re-elected, and then the Republican party promised they would implement UBI if elected. Now the debate moves to details vs concept...
In India, neither of the parties involved are talking full UBI, but one is talking about a step centered around farmers, and now the other is talking about everyone under an income level. Unfortunately, neither of them really understands UBI, because each is focused on the poor.

What do I mean by a "fine-grained consent model"? At the highest level it's pretty simple: it means I want to give all the participants control over their data.

What does that mean in practise?
In this #CitizenScience project we'll be collecting experiences about the challenges that #Autistic people have when navigate the environment.

For example, is it very stressful to take the tube? (Yes!) Are there times that are particularly bad? (Yes!) What are the workarounds?
