In a car and out blurts a radio ad from the govt saying we are leaving the EU on October 31st and we should “get ready for Brexit.” These ads are now odd- it is literally the law of the land to say if we don’t have a deal by Oct 31st as a nation, we will try not to leave.
The last govt plastered bill boards telling us we were leaving on March 29th, we didn’t. Not sure it does much for the reputation of government generally to assure its citizens that something is definitely happening when it knows it cannot be certain of it.
Indeed the govt prep ads make little sense on their own terms now the law is passed. If we get a deal we enter the transition period so there is nothing to prepare for on October 31st. If we don’t the PM must seek an extension.
It’s almost as if the govt is trying to tell us something about their policy towards that bit of law...
