The theme of this piece is that we have government that has grown deaf and insensitive. They have ignored the lived experiences of the poor because as the elite, they are unaffected. Violent reaction is always the price. newframe.com/the-people-who…
But the issues raised here are not new. The iconic articles below raised alarm but political leaders disrespectfully ignored them. The crisis of drugs is the tipping point.

The sparks of SA’s xenophobia

The reality behind the scourge of drugs is that majority drug lords are foreigners. Nigerians have featured prominently in this dangerous and destructive pursuit. The anger and uprising are driven by the impunity they display in plying their illegal trade.
There is plenty empirical evidence that substantiated this and points to collusion by dirty and corrupt cops. And the residents of these communities know them and where they live. But nobody cares to investigate. @CyrilRamaphosa @DDMabuza @SAPoliceService
The phenomenon of illegal and undocumented immigrants has sparked difficult populist driven energy nationalism globally. Centrist parties are losing power in a growing number of countries. The ANC led government has neglected this challenge.
They have parroted this misplaced view that people must learn to live together harmoniously. And yet they abandoned the ghetto townships and CBDs to live in guarded suburbs. The rise in illegal and undocumented immigrants reflect a failed state.
The explosion of xenophobic violence reflects a failed state. Home Affairs, the SAPS are exemplars of this failed state. Hence the explosion in drugs and human trafficing.Nigerians feature prominently in this trade. This may be uncomfortable but it is true.
