Diversity training and antiracism interventions more generally have been in empirical shambles for awhile, but you often encounter shocking stuff, like the claim that white kids should be told "Race is an essential part of one’s identity." Really bad.

2/ "White people have certain unfair advantages" is COMPLETELY compatible with "Race should not be seen as an essential part of one's identity." There is some is/ought confusion here. 
3/ You can't do a full-court press in which you encourage people to think endlessly about their whitness as a deep and essential part of who they are and then act shocked when a some of them interpret that message in a rather alt-righty way. This is all so potentially misguided.
4/In summation:
Teacher: You are white. Address your whiteness. If you refuse to accept its importance you're a bigot. Think about it. Examine your whiteness. Whiteness whiteness. Your race is essential.
White kid: My white identity is super important to me
Teacher: WHAT??????
