Problem with the Russia-collusion coverage was that the press treated an accusation as definitive proof of wrongdoing. They seem to be repeating the same mistakes w Ukraine story.

There could be wrongdoing, but we need the facts first.
Starting with a presumption of guilt based on specific accusations sets a high bar that is hard to meet. Some people on the left might cheer that framing, but it hurts their credibility and actually benefits Trump bc he just has to come in below that bar.
IOW Trump can then simply point to some aspects of the accusation (ex: collusion) to be wrong and then claim innocence. Then it just becomes a partisan fight. It's exactly what happened w Mueller and you now see same thing happening again w/ Ukraine.
I mean how can members of Congress possibly decide on impeachment for this before seeing the actual complaint? And yet, that's exactly how the questions are framed.

That makes it seem like this is just a pretext for an action that those reporting on this already support.
