Few pointers on latest @ofstednews framework in thread below following our inspection last week. Hopefully no surprises within this….!

Was going write as blog but on second thoughts pick & choose from points in thread below #EduTwitter #SLTChat #OfstedFrameworkTip
@Ofstednews #OfstedFrameworkTip – Curriculum Intent Implementation & Impact – Ensure understanding embedded at every level so “all staff talk with same clarity as leaders”. Essential all know both their own & wider curriculum
@Ofstednews #OfstedFrameworkTip – LWs – Undertaken v early with SLT & Leads Curriculum intent probed during LWs in conversations & clear expectation was to see implementation & impact in lessons visited
@Ofstednews #OfstedFrameworkTip – Observation “Feedback” – Not offered individually Collective feedback within Faculty areas given to all staff visited “Feedback” developed into curriculum discussion and triangulation of Intent, Implementation, Impact with staff teams
@Ofstednews #OfstedFrameworkTip – Lesson Obs - All class teachers to know PPG & SEND students. Clear expectation to be able identify immediately when asked. Much focus on these students
@Ofstednews #OfstedFrameworkTip – Curriculum – Real focus with both staff & students on why doing not what doing
@Ofstednews #OfstedFrameworkTip – Deep Dives – Focus on high expectations; delivery of curriculum implementation; evidence of impact / progress Used to verify standards seen during LWs Students asked to present books & engage in group “learning conversation”
@Ofstednews #OfstedFrameworkTip – Behaviour – Know your figures! PEX FTE FTE+1 IE IE+1 Bullying (by type) B4L types. Focus on PPG & SEND representation Case studies to exemplify recommended
@Ofstednews #OfstedFrameworkTip – Prepare Middle Leaders – Much greater input through initial conversation (8.30am Day 1), LW, observation & deep dive
@Ofstednews #OfstedFrameworkTip – CEIAG – All staff to be able to identify & exemplify how CEIAG promoted within the curriculum. They will go looking and triangulate with students
@Ofstednews #OfstedFrameworkTip – Deep Dives – Students selected & asked present books & engage in learning conversations. Then used to triangulate with leads on curriculum, standards & expectations
@Ofstednews #OfstedFrameworkTip – SEND – Significant focus in EVERY aspect of inspection. All to staff to be able to identify & implement appropriate strategies. Leaders to know data, representation, trends
@Ofstednews #OfstedFrameworkTip – Assessment – Ensure all staff can explain what & why of assessment & exemplify how used in planning
@Ofstednews #OfstedFrameworkTip – Be On The Same Page – Real emphasis on triangulation between leaders, teachers & students. Student focus groups selected from each year. Robust & extensive conversations within these (students + inspector only) have significant weighting
@Ofstednews #OfstedFrameworkTip – NQTs – all had 1:1 meetings to probe induction, CPA, safeguarding, wellbeing, curriculum
@Ofstednews #OfstedFrameworkTip – Cultural Capital vs Enrichment – Ensure all staff able to articulate the difference & identify opportunities to develop
In summary - brutal few days but inspection was comprehensive, conversations & evidence trail robust & - although tbc - areas improvement fair. My only plea to @Ofstednews is do away with the judgements - mindset shift required to focus on the narrative not the number!
