At first @TimbersFC game in Portland following @MLS reversal of its short-lived ban of antifa propaganda on flags/banners, many celebrated. It’s unclear if the policy reversal affects other political symbols that were barred. Earlier in season, fan waving Trump flag was removed.
Antifa propaganda is ubiquitous at @MLS games in the Pacific Northwest, whether on clothing (which was never affected by the short-lived ban) or on flags & banners.
The “Iron Front” three arrows symbol was used by a social democrat paramilitary in Germany in interwar years. The group was both anti-communist & anti-fascist. American antifa groups have recently appropriated symbol, even though its movement is made up of many communists.
