Very much in keeping with UKIP's stance on this issue when Farage was leader. Both parties want to be rad rt nationalists who are still credible to a broad swathe of the electorate. Therefore both have looked for ways to exclude extremists who would taint them by association.
If your response is "but they're obviously intolerant anyway what difference does this make" you aren't the target audience. The target audience is people who share the UKIP/BXP agenda (anti-imm, anti-EU, nationalist) but reject far right agenda (violance, open racism)
That's actually quite a lot of people, a much larger segment of the electorate than the racist, violent far right segment. Openly excluding and opposing the latter is therefore valuable strategy for rad rt parties of this kind.
