House lawyers just replied to DOJ’s brief opposing the disclosure of Mueller’s grand jury information. They argue that DOJ can’t tell them whether or not they’re in an impeachment inquiry, which is the House’s central claim to Mueller’s grand jury files.

BREAKING: Appeals Court has REJECTED Trump’s appeal of the House Oversight Committee’s subpoena for his financial records.

Big win for House Democrats.
D.C. Circuit opinion UPHOLDS the lower court decision by Judge Amit Mehta, who said the subpoena was valid. Decision was 2-1, with Trump-appointed judge Neomi Rao dissenting.
The case could theoretically head to the Supreme Court, but House Democrats have won decisively in both the district and appeals courts.

Mazars will now likely be forced to turn over Trump’s financial records to House Democrats.

JUST IN: It'll likely be months before Congress gets a ruling on accessing special counsel Mueller's grand jury info.

The Judiciary Committee and DOJ have proposed a schedule that doesn't get to oral arguments until at least October.
Interestingly, the attorney appearing on behalf of DOJ described the Justice Department as the "defendant" in this matter.
As @dsamuelsohn points out, this is pretty speedy in legal terms, but on the political calendar, two months is glacial with the presidential primaries nearing.

As I discussed with @maddow tonight, AG Barr’s claims that he is barred from disclosing grand jury information contained in the Mueller report to Congress by Rule 6(e) is false. Rule 6(e)(3)(D) creates a national security/foreign intelligence exception that applies here. 1/1
The exception, added in the wake of 9/11, allows DOJ to share grand jury information, without a court order, “involving foreign intelligence, counterintelligence” to federal law enforcement, intelligence, national defense/security officials to assist them in their duties.
The exception also allows DOJ to share with those officials grand jury information involving threats of attack or “other grave hostile acts” or “clandestine intelligence” activity of a “foreign power” for the purpose of “preventing or responding to such threat or activities.”
