Labour only have 246 MPs. There is no chance whatsoever of Corbyn getting enough cross-party support to have the majority he needs, given his twin red lines (me/Labour government) so he is the problem and the roadblock.

Disagree? Then explain step by step where the other *80* MPs Corbyn needs would come from... It's irrelevant that Labour is the second largest party so long as they can't bridge that 80 MP gap.

They'd probably still not back Corbyn, but he'd have a lot better chance if he agreed to made MPs from other parties Chancellor, Deputy PM, Foreign Secretary etc. ie share out the roles in a proper GNU. But Labour AND Corbyn is just too greedy, and unworkable.

There is no route to a GNU without...
1) The Tory rebels. They will not back Corbyn and a Labour government.
AND
2) The LibDems. They will not back Corbyn and a Labour government.

1) alone or 2) alone isn't enough. Both are essential. Corbyn loses both.

There is a majority in Parliament for a proper GNU:
- neutral figure in charge
- Cabinet made up of MPs from all parties
- Corbyn in some senior role but not GNU leader

There is no majority for what Corbyn is insisting on.

If you want to go off on a foolish rant about Jo Swinson and the LibDems, stop and *think* first. They have 18 MPs. Labour need 80. Therefore no matter how much you may dislike her, logic dictates she is not the problem in this particular situation.

Corbyn is vital to the GNU plan. If he whips against it, it's dead (numbers too tight). If he backs it strongly it has a very good chance. Again from that point of view he is the obvious roadblock. Move one way, GNU dies. Move the other way, GNU thrives. Come on Corbyn!
